WHAT ARE CUBS?

Cubs are boys and girls aged between 8 and 10.5 years.  At Upton Cubs, we organise a range of activities that allow you to:

Every week, we gather in Sixes to take part in a number of interesting and challenging activities – achieving lots and having a great deal of fun along the way.

WHEN DO WE MEET UP?

HOW ARE CUBS ORGANISED?

The Cub Section is led by Akela and cubs are part of a Six. A Six is a smaller group of Cubs, headed up by a Sixer and a Seconder. Sixers and Seconders are Cub Scouts who are chosen to take on leadership responsibilities, such as welcoming new people, being extra helpful on camp, or taking charge of a particular game or activity.

WHO ARE OUR LEADERS?

The Cubs Section is led by trained adult volunteers, working to make sure Cubs is safe and open to all. Some lead week-in and week-out, others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. Listed below are our Cubs leaders and assistants.

WHAT DO WE WEAR?

You don't need a uniform to join. On your first night at Cubs, you’ll be taking part in lots of activities, and should just wear something you feel comfortable in. Eventually, you’ll get your own Cub uniform to wear to meetings and camps.  For Cubs, the uniform consists of a green sweatshirt with your badges sewn on and a coloured scarf or ‘necker’ to represent the Upton Scouts Group.  With the sweatshirt, you wear casual trousers during the week but may need to wear smart trousers or a skirt for special occasions like awards ceremonies and public events. Neckers are provided when you are invested into the Scout Group.

Uniforms can be purchased from the Scout Shop in Worcester.

Wearing a uniform is comfy and practical. It means you can run around and get messy without ruining your other clothes. It makes you feel part of a team. It means no one feels uncomfortable or left out and it gives you a place to show off all the badges you earn.

Award Badges  Completing awards challenges you do more, learn more and be more. See what’s on offer and start your journey to the top.

Activity Badges Become an expert in something you love, or try something shiny and new. There’s a badge to suit each and every Cub.

MOVING ON TO SCOUTS
